We are hosting research fellow and professor, Amanda Williams to unpack her recent article on: Putting the SDGs back on track. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been recognised as a transformative global agenda aimed at addressing pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges. However, recent reports indicate that progress towards achieving these goals has faltered, and urgent action is required to put the SDGs back on track.
The article explores the reasons behind the stagnation in SDG progress and proposes actionable solutions to reinvigorate our collective efforts. Amanda will delve deeper into the themes addressed in her article. She will share her perspectives on the current state of the SDGs, identify key challenges, and present practical strategies for revitalizing our commitment to these global goals. The session will also provide an opportunity for participants to engage in a Q&A session.
Amanda’s research lies at the intersection of sustainability management and social-ecological systems. She studies how organisations understand global sustainability issues and develop corporate sustainability strategies that align with global targets. Drawing on her extensive research and expertise, she offers valuable insights into how we can overcome the obstacles hindering the achievement of the SDGs.
Join AVPA and sustainability researcher, Amanda, in discussing how we can put the SDGs back on track in Africa, particularly unpacking how Safaricom, a Kenyan mobile network operator, has successfully integrated the SDGs into its corporate mission and strategy
